The Technology Collaborative Releases New Request for Proposals
Plans $1.5M in Grants to PA-based Companies and Universities
Proposals being accepted for developments in digital & analog electronics,
robotic technologies & applications, and cyber security

Pittsburgh, PA – November 11, 2009 - The Technology Collaborative (TTC), a statewide economic development organization that supports the growth of Pennsylvania’s world-class robotics and digital technologies industries, announced today that it expects to award $1.5 million in technology commercialization funding to universities, start-up companies, and established companies based in Pennsylvania on or before March 31, 2010.

“The interest in our Tech Commercialization Initiative (TCI) program continues to be strong and we expect to receive another competitive set of proposals in response to this RFP,” said David Ruppersberger, President and CEO of TTC. “Our goal is to continue funding projects that present the best opportunities for commercialization and economic growth for southwestern Pennsylvania.”

Through a competitive selection process, TTC intends to award funding for projects ranging up to $150,000 each that address key engineering design challenges, show a high degree of innovation and most importantly, identify a clear path to commercialization with the potential to significantly impact digital and/or robotics-related companies in Pennsylvania. Required project completion is 12 months commencing from date of contract.

Draft proposals are due Monday, December 21, 2009, 5 PM EST. The final proposal submission deadline is Friday, February 12, 2010, 5 PM EST.  The full Request for Proposals can be downloaded from TTC’s website at http://www.techcollaborative.org/default.aspx?id=download_rfp. Commercial submissions will only be accepted from PA firms who have either: a) never received TTC TCI funding, or b) received less than $250K of total funding, as prime- and/or subcontractor, from prior TTC TCI solicitations.

TTC will be holding a workshop on Thursday, December 3rd, 8:00 – 9:00 am, at their office on 12 Federal Street, One North Shore Center, Suite 420, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. RSVP Patti Rote, pattir@techcollaborative.org, 412.802.6406. Workshop attendance is not mandatory for submitting a proposal.
